Mancat Monday on Labor Day

Today we are celebrating Labor Day. 

My Lady told me that we didn't have to work on Labor Day. I wondered what we were supposed to do - this is my first Labor Day.

My Lady brought out a cat ham-mick that came for Angel China Cat and Angel Willow from the cats at Forty Paws for Christmas a few years ago. She put me on it and boy, is it ever comfortable! If you don't have one you should check them out here!

Angel China Cat would be 17 today!

Today would be China Cat's 17th birthday but she ran off to the Bridge last month, on July 30th. I wish that I could have known her longer than 3 months but she taught me quite a few important cat beliefs. Such as always making sure there is plenty of food in the house and enjoying treats as often as possible. At the very least, be sure to get your 9:00 treats before everyone goes to bed! Plus whenever boxes are in the house, they belong to cats. When Food Lady put all of my canned stinky goodness in the cupboard I got to play with the food box. Since I'm hiding you probably can't see me, right?!?!?!?

I love to play in boxes! China Cat told me that is fun for cats and she was right!

This picture was taken of China Cat & Willow on Willow's 9th birthday so I thought today, on China Cat's birthday, would be a good day to post it. Willow ran off to the Bridge on March 30th. I never met Willow but China Cat loved her, so I do too! I hope that China Cat & Willow are having fun celebrating China Cat's birthday at the Rainbow Bridge. Now I have to go snuggle with my Food Lady because her eyes are leaking.....

Toesday and a Tail

I love to lay out on the counter in our screened-in porch. There is a ficus tree right next to the counter and I like to look at it. Sometimes I try to climb it.

I like to think about climbing trees when I am out here by the ficus.

Tummy and Toes Tuesday

I wanted all of you to see how I am the longest 6 month old kitten ever! From my back toes to my front toes all stretched out I am 36 inches long! That is a whole yardstick of gingery goodness!

World Cat Day 2013

Hooray, It's World Cat Day today!

But first I, Spike, wanted to say how overwhelmed we are by all the nice comments from everyone for Sweet China Cat. 

It certainly seems like a wonderful world that I have come to live in here, with all the loving cats, dogs and their people.

Today I am 6 months and 9 days old so I don't know a lot about the world yet. I borrowed a globe from the little ones that visit here so I could try and figure out the world. OK, I didn't really figure it out but it seems like a great place, especially if they have a World Cat Day! I assume that also includes kittens because we are really cats but just not grown up yet!

My Very Sad News

Hi, it's me, Spike William. 

I'm sorry that I have to be the one here to bring our bad news. But I am a good little mancat and I will get through with it...

As you know from our last post, China Cat was not feeling well. She stopped eating and drinking and didn't want to play with me anymore. I went into my wicker basket on the porch and put my paws together to pray and purr for her to get better.

 Last Tuesday, July 30th, when China Cat started throwing up, My Lady said that she had to go see the V-E-T and put China Cat into the PTU. I was hoping that they wouldn't be gone for too long but my Lady came back home alone. The V-E-T said it was very bad because her kidneys weren't doing what they were supposed to be doing and they were really tiny.

So my Lady kept crying but she told me that now China Cat and Willow are together again at the Rainbow Bridge. I only got to know China Cat for 3 months but I miss her too. So that I won't be too sad my Lady plays with me every day with Da Bird wand toy and she throws my fuzzy ball toys down the hallway over and over again. I am a good mancat and I always fetch the toys back to her. And I get treats every night, just like China Cat and Willow did.

My Lady made a lovely picture of China Cat and it has the same colors as the one she made for Willow. After they are printed they will hang on the wall together. Now I have to go snuggle with my Lady - she was very sad while she was helping me make our sad post today.

My Spike William on his 2nd Mancat Monday

Spike William and I were lucky enough to hang out together in our screened-in porch with Louie the Lamb. I always like to snuggle up on the couch and today Spike joined me on top of the couch. Did you notice??? He is almost as big as me already!!!

He is getting a bit more settled down since he had his "boy cat surgery" so he doesn't jump on me as much as before. Still, I could do with a bit less attacking since I am 16 years old and he is only 6 months old! But he is a very sweet kitten and my Lap Lady and Big Janitor love him, just like they love me!

I wanted to add that I am now starting to feel my age. I hope that I still have a long time here with little Spike, my Lap Lady and Big Janitor but I seem to be eating less and sleeping more. If I have to go to the Rainbow Bridge I will get to be with my sweet Willow again.... but I am not really ready to go yet. Any purrs and prayers would be welcome as my Lap Lady hates the thought of losing me so soon after Willow.

Tummy Tuesday

China Cat said that it would be OK if I posted today for Tummy Tuesday. She doesn't usually lie down so that you can see her tummy.  She likes to sleep curled up, kind of like in a circle.

However, I love to lay on my side and show off my handsome spotted tummy!

First Mancat Monday

This will be the first Mancat Monday ever at my blog.

The New Guy that you saw grinning here is my new little brother and his name is Spike William. I am considered a Mackerel Tabby because I have stripes all over but Spike is a Classic Tabby because he has swirls. He is already almost as big as I am even though he is only 4 1/2 months old. He loves going out on the porch as much as I do!

Since he is still a kitten he is very playful. In fact, I think he jumps on me a bit too much and he tries to steal my cat food when I am still eating it! He will be sharing my blog with me now.

I still miss my sweet Willow so much but I think I did need another new kitten in my house. He's not the same as Willow but no one could be as sweet as she was - she really was like my kitten. Maybe Spike will be too..... someday when he calms down and stops jumping on me! I hope that everyone will enjoy seeing his kitten antics!

My Squillion, Charlie the ginger tabby, had a St. Patrick's Day Tea Party with some friends today. It was supposed to be on Squillions Day on February 28th but postponed until everyone was able to attend today!

Today is Willow's 9th Birthday!

I am so excited that today we get to celebrate Willow's 9th Birthday!

My Lap Lady said we can surprise Willow with some tuna for lunch and then maybe some Fancy Feast Appetizers at dinner time! We had them for my birthday last August and they were delicious! And, of course, we always have treats before bedtime! It will be a great day, indeed!

I am going to go snuggle in the sunshine with Willow until it's time for lunch. She told me that she was dreaming about snoozing in the sunshine at the beach - I think that I will too!
